Hi guys! Today's post is gonna be a little different, because we're all here! That's right, it's Lex, Brooke, & Camryn on one post!! *happy dance* We are all celebrating at Lex's house for her birthday sleepover! We made a strawberry trifle cake, as you read in the title. It took us a few attempts to make it picture worthy, let's just say we had a few mishaps. Brooke made some cake, and then everything else was made/prepared by Lex and Camryn. (Yes, we are referring to ourselves in third person) We are so excited!!!!!!!!!!!! Because we're all together! and because we're on sugar highs........... on to the recipe.
You will need:
- a trifle bowl (we used a footed one from Hobby Lobby)
- 1 box of large strawberries (depending on the size of the cake and your bowl
- 1 quart of heavy whipping cream
- 1/3 cup of powdered sugar
- 2ish tsp of vanilla bean paste (or extract, but we like the little specks of vanilla)- 2 8-inch cakes (again depending on the size of everything, we had to trim ours to fit the bowl) (i used this recipe from Sally's Baking Addiction minus the chocolate frosting)
Let's put it together:
1) Cut the cake (if needed) to fit the trifle bowl
2) Wash, hull, and slice the strawberries
3) Whip the cream with the sugar and vanilla with a handheld electric mixer until it forms stiff peaks
4) Assemble; cake, whipped cream, strawberries, cake whipped cream strawberries, cake, whipped cream, strawberries
5) Decorate with the strawberries and cream, we went very rustic with this
6) Take pictures and post them somewhere so we can see them, and then enjoy and share with people, or keep it all to yourself. I have no problem with either.
I hope you enjoyed! Here's a few pictures.
