hey guys its Lex here again with another Thursday post :) and its my birthdayyyyy! exactly one week ago I said I was going to try photography and post some pictures on the blog. Well guess what? With a little research, practice, and lighting, I managed to get a few cool and atheistic pictures. I even surprised myself...Here are my top 5 favorite pictures & tips that helped to "capture the moment" ;)

1) If you're trying food photography indoors, try to use all-natural lighting, so stand by a north-facing window with a blank background and aim a reflector (I just used a large piece of white paper taped on cardboard) facing the food, to bounce the light back and get rid of some shadows.

2) If you're taking ANY pictures outside, make sure the camera's back (or cameraperson's) is to the sun. If you're not 100% pleased with the lighting, filters always come through.

3) Filters...I know I mentioned them just up there ^^ but I really do love filters, they can help the picture have more character or personality, if you will.

4) Props has got to be my favorite of them all because you can play around, get creative, and have fun. Some of my favorites for food are oats, spices, herbs, spoons, and washcloths. Props help give more depth and explanation to the picture, especially a blog post ;)

5) Background, background, background. Boy, do I know about backdrop trouble. I like the look of an all white surface but sometimes, you gotta change it up. So, when I take a picture of let's say a sandwich (I know, creative) instead of leaving it on a white plate, I'll slice it one, and lay the 2 halves on a stone slate, place the slate by a window, and snap away.

Now here are my pictures and my quirky, corny, comments. Some pictures are of products that I am NOT advertising but I did list where they are from under the picture.

1. Snow Daze

2. Pancakes with fresh whipped cream? Yes please!

3. Outdoors Inside

Wreath: HomeGoods...Wreath Hook: HomeDepot

4. Dear God,

a prayer we should all say...OLD: similar one found at HobbyLobby

5. Frost & Evergreens? <3

I mean, look at that? The brick, the trees, the frost? How could I resist?

anyways, thanks for stopping by, I can't wait to share some recipes with y'all soon but this is what I've got for now. bye!

xxx, lex

PS>> I did take each and every single one of these picture but I am gonna say "thank you!!" to Apple because I did use the iPod 5 to take all of them lovely pictures ;)
